This soundtrack features many fine voices and is generous with the film's background music, but at its heart Lady and the Tramp is a showcase for the incomparable Peggy Lee, who wrote and performed several of the movie's best songs. Her vocal turn as the sexy but rundown street dog on "He's a Tramp" redefines the word showstopper, but even better is the slinky "Siamese Cat Song." It's both a duet (Lee sings the parts of both Si and Am) and a deadpan work of veterinary psychology. The kids will be humming it for weeks. So will you. --John Sanchez
