レビュー (Amazon) The Pink Panther theme may well be Mancini's most memorable invention, but this is its finest showcase. Mancini's fourth piece of work for the movie series, this is clearly where the composer was at the height of his powers and influence. The title theme gets to follow his own theme with those of "Funeral March of a Marionette" (the Hitchcock theme), "Batman" (Neil Hefti's 1960s classic), "The Sound of Music", "Singin' in The Rain" and "Big Spender". This terrifically produced album presents all the essential material, like the equally inventive "Inspector Clouseau Theme" and the songs "Until You Love Me" and "Come to Me" (with Tom Jones hamming up his part as much as Herbert Lom does). Then a bonus section demonstrates the more dramatic range of Mancini's style with the excitement of cues like "The Plan/The Snatch" and "The Doomsday Machine". At the heart of the score is the sublime "Evil Theme", which is magical in its suggestion of dimwittedness through a detuned pizzicato violin. --Paul Tonks 関連グッズ |
