レビュー (Amazon) Released as both a CD and "video album" (spotlighting the Grand Canyon), Canyon Dreams comes from the transitory Dream line-up of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke, and Paul Haslinger. While this trio turned out some mixed musical results--of which the soundtrack to the doomsday thriller Miracle Mile is the best--Canyon Dreams features a satisfactory collection of glossy ambient compositions and three energetic numbers. It also garnered the electronic music veterans their first Grammy nomination. While not highly original given the group's prolific output, Canyon Dreams still has its charms. The group generally eschews the electronic pop leanings of this era for more contemplative musings, striking a good balance between live playing, sequencing, and rhythm programming. One can feel a kinetic flow in the dance between synth pan pipes and sequenced bass in "Shadow Flyer", in the throbbing electro-grooves of "Canyon Carver", and in the tranquil yet mysterious synth environs of "Sudden Revelation". The organic nature of these electronic pieces no doubt stems from the real-life inspiration of the video the music was composed for. --Bryan Reesman 関連グッズ |
