レビュー (Amazon)Renowned jazz artist Terence Blanchard gives his second career composing soundtracks a nice boost with the music for
Eve's Bayou, seamlessly blending jazz and classical styles into a unified whole. This means that at times you hear a guitar taking the melody, backed up by a string section, or a main theme played first as a classical arrangement, then reworked into a jazz piece. The result is at times fast paced and tense, more often quiet and atmospheric, setting the mood for the film. There's a certain intimacy about this music that most orchestral soundtracks rarely capture; it's a testimony to Blanchard's skill as a composer that this works so well, without becoming sappy or maudlin.
