レビュー (Amazon)When a list of credited instruments reads: esraj, sitar, tamboura, surmundal, cello, bansuri flutes, clarinet, and tabla, you know to prepare yourself for something different. This is akin to spending an hour in an extremely upmarket Indian restaurant that has a fair sized orchestra playing alongside the owner's friends. The delightful clash of the two sounds begins with "Prelude/Opening", and they continue to meet head on with small interludes concentrating on one or the other. The buttock-wobbling sitar band moments include "Rush Hour", "Chalk Rag" and "Lizard Tail". The less interesting traditional Western pieces "The Ledger" are nonetheless demonstrative of a talent for melody. Even more refreshing than the stylistic groupings is the fact that these melodies aren't over-used. They float in and out just like that gorgeous bansuri flute, and make you wonder if perhaps there's something special about the name Goldsmith when it comes to film scoring.
